HLA B27 (RTPCR)

HLA-B27 (RTPCR) is a specific surface protein (class I major histocompatibility complex) strongly associated with a group of autoimmune, inflammatory diseases known as seronegative spondyloarthropathies. While possessing the HLA-B27 gene does not mean an individual will definitely develop an autoimmune disorder, it acts as a critical genetic marker. This test is primarily indicated for patients presenting with chronic low back pain, joint stiffness, or eye inflammation, and to aid in diagnosis of multiple disorders e.g. Ankylosing Spondylitis, Reactive Arthritis, Acute Anterior Uveitis, Psoriatic Arthritis or Enteropathic Arthritis.
