Filaria Antigen

The Filaria Antigen Test is a rapid, highly specific diagnostic blood test used to detect the presence of circulating filarial antigens (CFA) shed by the adult Wuchereria bancrofti parasite. This parasite is the primary causative agent of Lymphatic Filariasis (commonly known as elephantiasis), a tropical disease transmitted to humans through mosquito bites.

Unlike traditional microfilariae smear tests, which require blood collection at night, the antigen test can be performed at any time of day, making it the gold standard for diagnosing active infections.
