Dengue IgG Ab Screening
The Dengue IgG Screening is a crucial test used primarily to determine if a patient has had a past infection with the Dengue virus or is currently in the later stages of a secondary infection. While it is not used to catch the virus in the first few days of symptoms (that is what the NS1 or PCR tests are for), the presence of IgG antibodies is incredibly helpful for clinicians to assess long-term immunity and risk profile. Specifically, knowing your IgG status is vital because a secondary infection with a different strain of Dengue carries a significantly higher risk of developing severe complications, such as Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. By identifying these antibodies, healthcare providers can better monitor at-risk patients and provide more informed, proactive care.
