Chlamydia Trachomatis IgG Antibody
The Chlamydia Trachomatis IgG Antibodies Test is a blood test used to detect whether a person has ever been infected with Chlamydia trachomatis, the bacterium responsible for chlamydia, one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs). While acute chlamydia is usually diagnosed via urine tests or swabs (using PCR/NAAT), the IgG blood test is primarily used to evaluate long-term complications. Doctors often order it during fertility workups to see if a past, untreated chlamydia infection might have caused pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or blocked fallopian tubes.
