The Antiphospholipid Antibody (APLA) Panel is a specialized blood test used to diagnose Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS)—an autoimmune disorder where the immune system mistakenly produces antibodies that attack proteins in the blood. This can lead to an increased risk of inappropriate blood clots (thrombosis) and pregnancy complications.

Doctors typically order this panel if a patient experiences unexplained blood clots (like Deep Vein Thrombosis or Pulmonary Embolism), recurrent miscarriages, or a prolonged PTT (Partial Thromboplastin Time) test result.
