Culture & Sensitivity Package

The Culture & Sensitivity (C&S) Package is a critical diagnostic tool used to identify the specific pathogens—such as bacteria or fungi—causing an infection and to determine which antibiotics will most effectively eliminate them. By analyzing different biological sites, this package provides a comprehensive overview of systemic and localized health of the patient.

Blood Culture & Sensitivity - This test detects the presence of microorganisms in the bloodstream, which is normally sterile. It is vital for diagnosing bacteremia or sepsis, life-threatening conditions where an infection has spread throughout the body. Identifying the exact strain in the blood allows for targeted, rather than broad-spectrum, intravenous therapy.

Urine Culture - Used primarily to diagnose Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), this test identifies bacteria or yeast in the urine. It helps distinguish between simple infections and more complex issues, ensuring the prescribed medication can effectively reach and clear the urinary system.
